Class Experience

Are you obsessed with the hit anime show, Bungo Stray Dogs? I am too! Join this weekly class where you can meet some new friends and share your love of everything BSD.

Each week will have a theme where we focus on a BSD character. Since all of the major characters in the show are fashioned after real authors and artists, we have the opportunity to dive deep into the historical significance of the many Japanese, American and European authors featured in the show.

Our class time breakdown is as follows:

- Introductions: tell us about yourself! What do you love about the show and who are your favorite characters? Do you have any theories about future episodes?
- Presentation: learn about the featured character of the week and discuss how their superpowers are related to their "IRL" works and history.
- Review/Workshop: the class will review what we have learned with a fun quiz or project. Quizzes are completed on-screen using Kahoot! or Nearpod. Additionally, our discussions usually inspire some creative outlet, whether that is fan fiction, fan art, etc. We may also use Canva to design book covers, anime scenes, stickers and more.

Here are our weekly character highlights:

This is an ongoing class that can be attended weekly. Our class themes are always flexible and allow plenty of discussion and sharing. Each session is designed to inspire learners to read and learn about classic literature outside of class time, giving them even more interesting facts to share about the characters and storyline.

I'm looking forward to meeting fellow anime fans in class!

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Bungo Stray Dogs is a Japanese manga and anime series that is rated TV-14 (USA). The story features moderately graphic violence and includes sensitive topics such as death, murder, suicide and physical assault. Since our class is designed for fans of the show it is assumed that the learner and guardians are familiar with the premise of the show and all content, which will be discussed heavily in this class. Of course, discussions will be monitored and aligned with Outschool's community standards but be aware that many of these details are significant plot points that will come up in conversation. My classes are inclusive and accessible to learners of all abilities and backgrounds. We will not tolerate any hate speech or insensitive comments, whether directed at the learners in class or the characters on the show. Please review Outschool's community standards with your learner prior to attending class.
Supply List
Optional: learners may like to bring drawing or writing supplies in case they feel inspired to sketch or take notes.
