SUMMARY: In this 14-week Russian reading course, students will learn one-by-one all 33 letters of the Russian alphabet and their pronunciations. Learners will engage in reading Russian words from the first week. By the end of the course, students will be reading short words and even sentences (depending on how much practice they had with their weekly homework). Learners will be listening, participating in interactive slides and sensory activities, reading letters and words out loud, and...
Students will learn pronunciation of every letter of Russian alphabet and will be able to read short Russian words as well as words in a sentence.
To strengthen the reading skills and vocabulary gained from the lessons, students will be assigned homework each week. Parents are advised to help with the homework for this class. Instructions and help for parents will be attached along with the assignment each week. The homework is student-paced and needs to be completed daily for practice. It could take from 5-15 minutes each day.
Students will need for each lesson: - one can of any color Play Doh - pencil - two markers: blue and red - 33 blank flashcards - flashcards case or some small storage for flashcards like a zip-lock bag - Printouts provided in the classroom page - Folder to keep all the printables from the course.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be informally and formally assessed during each class. Teacher keeps a running record of reading skills mastered by each child.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
