In our HTML and CSS class, my approach is hands-on and student-centered. Each lesson is designed to build on the previous one, using interactive activities and real-world examples to make learning engaging and practical. I emphasize clear explanations and step-by-step guidance to ensure you understand each concept before moving on. No prior knowledge of HTML or CSS is required. We start with the basics and build up from there, so whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience, you'll find the course designed to help you succeed. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to learn!

- Introduction to the internet and websites.
- What is HTML? What is CSS?
- How HTML and CSS work together to create web pages.

- Basic Tags: <h1>, <p>, <img>, <a>
- Creating a Simple HTML Document
- Activity: Build a simple web page with a title, text, and an image.

Introduction to CSS
- What is CSS? (Introduction to styling)
- Basic CSS Properties
- Colors, Fonts, and Text Alignment
- Background Color and Borders
- Activity: Style the HTML page created in Unit 2.

No prerequisites are required for this class—just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm! Whether you're a complete beginner or have dabbled in web design, this course is designed to guide you through the basics of HTML and CSS.

Hi there! My name is Faiza and I am going to be your teacher! I graduated from Colby College and started teaching with TFA in a middle school. I spent two amazing years teaching STEM and Robotics, and let me tell you, I fell in love with coding and sharing that passion with others! I've met countless kids who give up before even giving it a shot, often thinking they're not "smart enough." But here's the deal: with a bit of effort and practice, there's nothing you can't achieve.
Back in high school, I doubted I'd ever become valedictorian because I didn't think I was smart. I worked my tail off to succeed, and now, I’m proud to say that hard work paid off and I graduated at the top of my class. Trust me, every student has that same potential!
STEM is a rapidly growing field, but many students lack confidence in their abilities. That’s why I’m passionate about teaching STEM and coding. I run fun, interactive classes on Scratch, a programming language developed by MIT Media Lab. Scratch promotes problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and equity in computing—everything I believe makes learning exciting and engaging. So, let’s dive into STEM together and unlock your full potential!
