This is a self-paced, 4-unit course designed to give your teen a toolbox of communication skills they can use for life! It's all about helping them feel confident and clear when they talk to anyone.

Here's a breakdown of what they'll learn:

Unit 1: Goal Setting and Building Your Habits: Unit 1 is their launchpad for success! In lesson one, students will learn the powerful framework of SMART goal setting to ensure your goals are clear, achievable, and motivating. Lesson two dives deep into identifying and eliminating negative habits that hold people back. Finally, lesson three empowers you to cultivate positive routines that align with your core values and long-term dreams. By the end of this unit, they will have a roadmap and the tools you need to turn your aspirations into reality.

Unit 2: Developing Positivity and Maintaining Momentum: This unit equips learners for the long haul. Lesson four explores the concept of perseverance (grit) and the power of optimism to fuel motivation and help overcome challenges. They'll learn strategies to develop a can-do attitude and stay focused on their goals. Lesson five equips learners with critical thinking skills to effectively evaluate and utilize advice from others, ensuring it aligns with your unique path. Finally, lesson six dives into practical time management hacks to help optimize productivity and stay on track towards achieving goals.

Unit 3: Building Assertiveness and Money Habits: This unit hones communication skills for success. Lesson seven empowers learners to express themselves assertively and confidently, ensuring their voice is heard as they pursue their goals. They'll learn how to communicate their needs and boundaries effectively while building strong relationships. Lesson eight explores the connection between financial security and personal development. They'll gain valuable tools and strategies for developing healthy money habits and achieving financial goals, giving them the peace of mind and resources to chase their dreams.

Unit 4: Long Term Focus and Overcoming Peer Pressure: This unit equips learners to navigate roadblocks. Lesson nine explores the concept of the Compound Effect, demonstrating how small, consistent actions add up to big results over time. This reinforces the importance of daily habits and consistent effort towards goals. Finally, lesson ten tackles the topic of peer pressure. Students will learn strategies for identifying and resisting negative influences that might hinder their progress, ensuring they stay focused on achieving what matters most.

Through interactive discussions, quizzes, and practical exercises, learners will develop valuable skills for a thriving future. Join me on this transformative journey of empowerment and self-discovery!

Class Structure: All links to the pre-recorded videos, Google form quizzes (I recommend pacing at 2-3 per week) will be posted on the first day of class, along with each lesson's discussion questions. Students will have 4 weeks of teacher support which includes responses to discussions and any questions about the material. Students can expect responses to their discussions from me within 24 hours of posting their discussions.

The teaching style is engaging and learner-centered, with a mix of reading, video clips, and discussions to facilitate a holistic learning experience. Learners will have ample opportunities to interact with the instructor and their peers through discussion forums, and activities, fostering a supportive and interactive learning community.

Prerequisites: No prior experience or knowledge is required. This course is open to teens aged 13-18 who are eager to learn, grow, and develop essential life skills for personal and academic success.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION:
Students who complete this course during their 4 week session will be sent a Certificate of Completion that they can use to begin building their resume for future opportunities. If assignments are not submitted or submitted after the class end date without communication, the student will not receive the certificate as a natural consequence.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND AI USE

This course emphasizes the development of independent critical thinking and communication skills. Therefore, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, etc. to generate content for discussions is strictly prohibited. This class is all about the learner's own thinking and communication skills. Using AI or other outside sources isn't part of the plan.

Detection and Consequences: If I suspect the use of AI in an assignment, I will reach out to the student directly. The student will have the opportunity to rewrite the affected portion of the discussion without penalty by the original due date.

By upholding academic integrity and relying on your own intellectual efforts, you will gain valuable skills and knowledge that will benefit you throughout your academic journey and beyond.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello everyone! My name is Delicia Guild! I'm originally from New Mexico but relocated to Colorado Springs in 2021.
I graduated with a psychology degree in 2015 from Eastern New Mexico University. I started my career in banking, and I quickly realized that I wanted to make an impact on more people. I began teaching online in 2018, teaching English to kids in China. I really enjoyed myself so much that I started teaching online full-time in 2019.
Throughout the years, I've come to realize how important personal development is. I started reading all kinds of books about marriage, time management, people skills, and finances so I could better myself and my family. I really fell in love with learning these skills, so I started teaching classes that build upon them.
My goal now is to impact kids (they're our future after all). Academics are absolutely important, and skills like communication, handling conflict, and building confidence are just as (if not more) important.
A few facts about me:
-I live with my awesome husband and two cats (Heisenberg and Honey) 👫🐈‍⬛🐈
-My favorite TV series is The Chosen 🥖🐟✨
-My favorite color is yellow because it reminds me of sunshine ☀️
-I'm a huge bookworm! 🤓 I love reading authors like John C. Maxwell, Joyce Meyer, and Simon Sinek.
-My absolute favorite classes to teach are my Leadership & Character Academy Classes!
