Beginner - Intermediate Level
Learners are encouraged to bring their favorite toy to build with. Such as Crystal Climbers, Magna-Tiles, Legos, any type of blocks, dollhouses, dolls, etc. Students are encouraged to be creative! About This Class; 1. We will begin by warming up our virtual environment by showing and sharing a favorite toy or stuffed animal. This helps each us to get to know each other and feel more comfortable. Our stuffed animals or toy will get to stay with us throughout class. Opening class with something familiar and important to learners allows them to feel safe and it makes it easier for them to open up more. 2. Learners will be given a simple theme for class. They will be encouraged to share their ideas they would like to build. Such as buildings, people, stores, a fire station, towers, etc. This allows children to share and notice what they see in their environment around them. 3. Learners will be given 30 minutes to build based on our theme. They will be encouraged to be creative and build what they are interested in or something they are excited about. 4.During this time learners will be asked a variety of questions to make sure they are on a great track to build. They will also be able to ask questions along the way. I have found learners can get frustrated if something doesn't turn out the way they visualized or it if something falls apart. 5. After our building time is up we will spend the last few minutes sharing and showing. Each learner will be asked a few questions about what they created. 6. Examples of these questions are; What did you build? How can we use it ? What colors did you use? After each learner shares, we will encourage them by giving them a round of applause 7. In this section of class learners don't realize it, but they will be building their public speaking skills by sharing and showing what they made. 8. Our next class will be student led. 9. Class will end with silly faces or a ridiculous joke for kids. ************************************ Day 2 Class: We will follow the same format as Day 1. This class will be student led with students choosing a theme.
Learning Goals
We will use many skills in this class. Taking turns to talk, asking questions, sharing and showing (public speaking), math, fine motor and so much more! After we are finished with our building, students will be quite proud of using these skills to learn in our class.
