In this fun and engaging brick building class, students will show off their creative building skills while learning about the anatomy of a brick and building a strong car to race down a ramp for our Demolition Derby. Students will interact with my PowerPoint presentation while learning about the anatomy of a brick (2x4, 1x3, 1x12, etc.). They will build a car that is strong enough to race down a ramp and smash it into a barrier without breaking the car. This class feeds into my ongoing Brick Building Creations Club at 11 AM on Sundays EST. You child can take this class as an introduction and then enroll in one/more of the ongoing sessions. Materials: assorted bricks (also called blocks) wheels and axels ramp (Constructed before class. Can be made out of cardboard, a wooden board or anything with a smooth surface that can slope.) barrier (stack of heavy books at the bottom of the ramp)
Learning Goals
Students will learn brick identification and the properties of a strong brick car that races down a ramp and smashes into a barrier without breaking.
