Description

Class Experience

In these STEAM classes students will learn some basic geometry skills, engage in creative construction, develop their own and teacher led projects, learn some engineering principles and use architectural ideas to build structures using their 3 Dux kits of materials.
Topics will include 1) Shapes  2) Angles and their Uses, 3) Balance and Stress in Structures 4) Thinking Creatively 5) Measurement  6) Planning and Design 
How is your class structured? The first 10 minutes of class will be...

1) Learn and review geometric shapes  
2) Gain understanding of angles 
3) Experiment with and learn about balance and stress in structures 
4) Promote and encourage creative thinking 
5) Understand symmetry
6) Gain experience using planning design to complete a project

Each week students will receive a challenge to begin work on. In class, we will complete challenges, present our projects, and learn new skills to help solve the next challenge.

Successful completion of class projects will be assessed and used as an informal assessment.

2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
