Each day we will examine a different historical building in a lecture format looking at pictures and slides. We will learn about where it is located, when it was built, and look at the architectural details. When we have finished our discussion we will begin to build. Each learner will build individually and we will discuss our buildings as we work. Students should build on a thick cardboard or styrofoam surface so they are able to move the building to check for stability. Students will...
Students will finish their buildings after class and show them to the group the next morning. Parents can assist by holding pieces as a learner connects them if the learner needs an extra set of hands.
Toothpicks Small Marshmallows Something to build on where they students can stick the toothpicks into the base (cardboard/styrofoam). I recommend cutting up a large box and using the sides. Another option is buying styrofoam trays from the picnic section but for some students they find it is not enough room to build on.
