This is an 4-week group course for the teen girl who would like to learn and/or strengthen their self-confidence and self-esteem. In our current times there is so much pressure of young girls to be perfect, to look and act in a certain way, well the only way they need to look or act is by looking and acting like themselves. Every girl deserves to feel comfortable in their own skin and be proud of who they are, because each girl is valuable, unique and special in their own ways. Confident...
Students will learn that Self-Confidence is the best outfit they will ever wear. With social media and powerful influencers all around us, it’s really easy for everyone to be constantly comparing ourselves to the “ideal” body and looks that are presented right in front of us all of the time. This is why it’s so important for girls to be confident enough to know who they are and make decisions for themselves. Girls who are insecure are more likely to give into peer pressure or be influenced by their surroundings because they might not have the courage to speak up or might feel like it will help them fit in. Insecure adults tend to be more soft spoken and it's important that women grow up to be powerful and successful. That is why it’s crucial that girls start learning how to love themselves and feel good about themselves as young as they can. Girls need to learn skills to be strong enough to not give into societal pressure. They need to know that they don’t need to be passive and not feel enough before those insecurities take over them. Confident girls grow up to be confident women! **PLEASE NOTE: this class is very much so conversational base, students are encouraged to join in on conversation as we work through the workbooks, share ideas and give support to one another.
I hold a Masters in Social Work (MSW), I have worked as a Social Worker in a girl's residential unit for over 4 years, my goal as their counselor was focused on assisting them in achieving their personal goals, learning life skills and building their self- confidence. I also have a daughter (she is an adult now), so I have personal experience raising a girl and as a girl myself I know how it feels to have the pressure to be perfect and struggle to try to fit in.
