In this class, students will be challenged to think of a dynamic way to use their building blocks to build in a new way. They will be given a prompt and will need to engineer a build that encompasses each part of the challenge. Students will be able to socialize in class while they build and can continue their build outside of class as well. At the end of class, students will present what they've built to the class! In this class, students will also learn and practice excellent public speaking skills. The challenges each week will be: Week of 6/6- build a vehicle that can fly and maneuver underwater Week of 6/13- build a home that can withstand a dinosaur attack and the extreme cold of Antarctica Week of 6/20- build a rover that can land on Mars and pick up Martian soil Week of 6/27- build a boat that can survive a tsunami and can transform into a shelter on a deserted island Week of 7/4- build a spaceship that can land on the sun and provide shelter for astronauts Week of 7/11- build a plane that can transform into a car Week of 7/18- build an underwater vehicle that can pet a dolphin and surface and surf the waves Week of 7/25- build a ship that can transport cargo across the ocean and fight off pirates. Week of 8/1- build a truck that can feed lots of people and survive a tsunami. Week of 8/8- build a space ship that can dock with the International Space station and defend against alien invasion. The class will continue and weeks will be added ongoing. Students will have 25 minutes in one class to complete their build. At the end of class, students will be able to showcase their build and discuss how it meets the two criteria of the week.
Learning Goals
Students will use their science knowledge and engineering skills to complete a building block challenge each week. Learners will use excellent presentation skills to discuss how they met the challenge. Students will use good social skills when interacting with classmates and the teacher in class.

Hello! My name is Stacey and I am a homeschooling mom of 4. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling. I have seven years of online teaching experience teaching children online. I also have 15 years of experience counseling children and their families to cope with big feelings and helping them increase their communication skills. I also currently run 2 companies!
I became a homeschooling Mom to 3 of my 4 children in 2018 when my son was diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia. The school he attended was not able to teach him to read so I learned how to teach reading to him using Orton Gillingham techniques and curriculum. I have since taught many children to read by using movement, activities, and lots of fun! Learning to teach children to read has become one of my passions in life!
I believe that children learn best when they feel cared for and are having fun! When older children understand how the curriculum will help them in their everyday lives they are more likely to retain the information and become a partner in their own learning. This makes learning so much more interesting for the student. It's our job as parents and teachers to help your child understand how the topics they learn will help them today and in their future!
My other passion in life includes teaching students about personal finance. This is something I've been interested in since I was a teenager, and I hope to be able to teach as many students as possible about how to build wealth through budgeting and being mindful of their income and expenses. I am excited to share this knowledge with your students!
When I'm not in the classroom, I can usually be found reading a great book or lounging in my pool or on the beach. I live in sunny FL, about 10 minutes from the beach and we enjoy going often. So if you see me in class with a sunburned face, you know why!
I look forward to partnering with you to teach your child something new and amazing! Thank you for the honor of being your child's teacher. I don't take this responsibility lightly. See you in the classroom!
