During this STEM Summer Camp, Learners will build and create a marble maze, no larger than a paper plate, using every day household items. We will meet over three days, and class will be comprised of discussion and guided individual work. On day 1, we will discuss the project guidelines, and the materials that we are to use. We will also draw out our maze design and discuss it as a group. On day 2, we will begin building our mazes. We will discuss building techniques, and best practices...
Students will expand their understanding of STEM topics and building concepts through this project-based class. Students will use engineering skills to build their maze, and math skills to calculate how much space they will need on their plate for their marble to pass through, how many pieces of material they will need, and geometry to configure all the correct angles.
Students will need to have a completed maze by the third class. If they can finish their maze in class, they won't have any homework.
