Description

Class Experience

Students will learn basic investment concepts such as: 
-Why stock prices change?
-What catalysts cause these changes?
-Deflation vs. inflation
-How to calculate year-to-date return?
-Types of investing strategies
-Dollar-cost-averaging
-Types of shareholder income
-How dividends work
-How the share price is calculated
-Golden rules of investing

In addition, students will continue to learn to manage their own stock market pie (portfolio) and track their progress throughout.
Student homework will be to track their portfolio and write down anything they've noticed about the companies they've invested into. Why did the stock price decrease? Increase? Were there any catalysts that affected the company?

Other than the standard Outschool tools, students will preferably have access to Google Sheets. Students will also need calculators on hand.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Each student will continue to track their portfolio progress through the Google Sheets real-time stock tracking portfolio document they received in the intro course. They will be able to check on their portfolio and/or modify it as they see fit. The goal is to visually conceptualize how the market works over time in order to get used to its fluctuating nature and eliminate fear.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be logging into their Gmail accounts to track and use their portfolios they were given in the intro class.
