Beginner Level
Please feel free to request a time/day This class will use Timberborn which is available through Steam. Timberborn is set in a future where humanity is no longer around and beavers have evolved to be quite clever but they need your help. The aim of the game is to keep the beavers alive though various challenges. They will need to survive droughts, have enough food to eat, houses to live in, power, factories to produce goods and deal with pollution. All this means you will need to manage your resources by growing forests, planting crops, constructing dams and building workshops. But beware if you beavers don't have enough food or water they will not survive! But do it right and your beavers will flourish and live in a fantastic city. I will be screensharing the game as I play it and students can also do the same (they will need to play the game on the same device as the camera to do this). I will also encourage students to discuss ideas on building a settlement and help with any tips on playing the game. Timberborn can be easy or difficult (depending on students skill and game settings) and is ideal for anyone interested in city management and solving problems through engineering or resource management. Also the beavers are very cute! This is only a small class so there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and to help each other. A student can join at anytime and no experience of the game is needed.
Learning Goals
This will involve developing engineering skills, managing the beavers well being and controlling water physics by building dams and harnessing water to produce power.

Learning Needs
This is a small class so will be ideal for students who don't like large classes which also means students get more individual attention.
Parental Guidance
Buying Timberborn through steam will require parent consent if the student does not already have a steam account.
Gamer tags will be required for this class. Gamer tags must not be shared through the classroom page but they can be shared through a private message if that is needed.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been working with children (Wales, UK) for about 20 years in various settings.
I have attended a Rudolf Steiner teacher training course and also qualified as an after school club leader. Mostly I have experience with home educated Children of all ages in a voluntary capacity. For 15 years I helped run a social group for home educating families and for the past 10 years (still doing this) I have helped with a large family camp for home educating families. This has involved a bit of everything. I've helped with animation classes, sport event and art classes. I have also taught making clay bread ovens and making bamboo pipes from bamboo. For the past couple of years I've helped out with a forest school club, mainly teaching the children (8-11 years) string tricks and making survival bracelets.
My hobby is art which I've been doing on and of for 20 years. For the past year I've been teaching art online classes to a group of home educated children as what I mostly enjoy is passing on skills (whatever the subject) to others. But beware sometimes my cat joins in the online sessions!
