Learn to design, build, and launch your own website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript!

In this hands-on project based class, students will learn how to design, build, and launch their very own website. This course contains the first 5 lessons of a 10 lesson series to complete the website with all the elements that you need to create a beautiful working site. 

💻 Taught by a professional programmer, this immersive program covers the entire web development process, from brainstorming initial ideas to launching a fully functional site. Students will gain practical experience with key web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Along the way, they’ll dive into website design principles, responsive layouts, and interactive elements, while developing their own unique project. 

✅  By the end of the course, students will have a fully developed personal website they can be proud of, along with the skills to continue building and refining web projects in the future.

Learning Goals

Students will be able to create a basic HTML document, including the opening structure, <html>, <head>, and <body> tags.
Students will learn how to create a simple web page by using fundamental HTML elements such as headings, paragraphs, links, and images.

Syllabus

5 Lessons
over 5 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Class 1 - Introduction
 Basics of HTML, opening an HTML Document, Starting an HTML Page.

Lesson 2:
Class 2
 Students will learn the basics purposes of each programming language and begin setting up a basic web page using strictly HTML. This will include the header, body, and other key components of the website. 
Lesson 3:
Class 3
 Students will continue adding content to their websites, along with working on the design and layout of the website. Instructions will be given on how to create original content for the website and avoid plagiarism. 
Lesson 4:
Class 4
 Students will learn the fundamentals of visually styling their websites using CSS, learning to customize options such as text size, font, color, effects, as well as background images and page sections.

Parental Guidance
Students will need to use the built in Notepad application within their computer. This does not require the use of an account.
Pre-Requisites
This class is level 1 of two levels. Please take this class prior to taking our level 2 website building class.
