Class Experience

Topic: Insect Anatomy / Adaptations

In this class we will be learning about the body parts and physical adaptations of insects by interacting with eachother and building a bug together. We will discuss the 3 main body parts of an insect. Then, we will build our insect one piece at a time as we learn about antennal types, mouth types, eyes, wings, legs, and even stingers! Each class insect is unique and created by the students. We will discuss how insect senses are different from our own and how insects have adapted to their environments. Then, we will put our class insect into the environment of our choosing using my at-home green screen! This class stays fun and interactive for the entire time.

Students will need a pencil and paper to follow along and build their own insect. Many students like to color their drawings too. Feel free to have crayons or colored pencils at the ready! Plus, I LOVE seeing the insects we have drawn at the end of class. Please consider submitting a photo to inspire future learners! :)

Also, if none of the scheduled times work for your student, PLEASE request a time that works for you. Auto-scheduling has been set up and will allow you to create any class between 10am and 7pm. Yes, I will teach this one shot class to 1 student. We would build our insect a little faster and spend our time looking at cool adaptations under a microscope. No time lost when you are talking about bugs.
Learning Goals
Students will learn basic insect anatomy and will further their knowledge of adaptations. We will discuss how insect adaptations can help them survive in some environments but be dangerous in others.
