Ready for bugs?! Kids LOVE sharing their discoveries and new things with others! In this class, students are asked to bring their pet bugs or wild-caught bugs so we can investigate and chat. I take more of a moderator role in my show and tell classes. Listeners are encouraged to ask questions to the show and tell presenter. This is sometimes difficult for the littles so I will often ask questions to the presenting student instead. Although this is a science-based class, this also incorporates the development of public speaking and communication skills. Our conversations will include color, size, shape and habitats. This is a great class for students who love bugs, buttttt maybe their parents don't like bugs so much. ;) Bring one bug. Bring ten bugs! Let's look at them all! If your student cannot find any live bugs then no worries! We can investigate dead bugs, too! Bug care tips: Grab a plastic food container or a jar. To ensure the insect gets air, poke holes in the top of the jar OR every couple of days open the jar. Place a moistened piece of paper towel and a small piece of apple and a small amount of fresh grass into the jar with the bugs. If we finish presenting early we will either explore my backyard OR we will draw a picture of our bug. Please review my class rules and policies: 1) My goal is to keep classes close to the scheduled amount of time, however, sometimes classes with low enrollments or especially talkative students may go over or under a few minutes. 2) My show and tell classes have a minimum requirement of two students. I will check the class enrollment at least two hours before the scheduled start time. If only one student is signed up I will transfer the student to the next available section and cancel the current class. 3) Classes will begin and end at the scheduled times, even if learners are late to the classroom or absent. 4) If no learners are in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting the classroom. Per Outschool policy, “If your learners have not joined the meeting 10 minutes after the start time, the meeting may be canceled, at the teacher’s discretion. This is considered a missed meeting and you are not entitled to a refund.” 5) To ensure safety and security, ALL of my students are required to turn their cameras on at the beginning of class so I can check identity. Students will also be asked to speak throughout each class, so a working microphone is required. This also helps ensure security and safety. 6) All students will be muted upon entering the classroom to prevent background noise and distractions. Please familiarize your child with the “Mute” and “Unmute” button in Zoom. If background noise and distractions are at a minimum then I leave the microphones unmuted so we can easily exchange conversation. 7) If a student would like to talk they may physically raise their hand or use the “Raise hand” feature in Zoom. 8) Parents are not required to be present during class, but it is helpful to be nearby in case your child has IT issues. 9) I follow all Outschool refund policies. https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/16379-refund-policies-and-happiness-guarantee?fbclid=IwAR0ieErrKtfr0xmuQMdKwah-ES2j900RwaConBcC6IrjUG7Nuhaftv2m75k 10) Per Outschool’s policies for multiple learners from your household, “Parents are welcome to enroll two or more learners in the same section of a class provided that the class has enough spaces. You will need to enroll each learner separately for the section, but learners are welcome to share a device if that would make it easier to attend class.”

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I am Teacher Bridget. I grew up in a family with a very diverse background and I come to Outschool ready to teach a variety of exciting class subjects! My favorite topics are related to horses, nature, gardening, books and science.
I love learning about and teaching about all nature-related topics! I am fascinated with ecosystems and how plants, animals and humans can work together. The world is so alive! All you have to do is step right outside your back door. In my nature-based classes we do hands-on activities, take field trips to our back yards and sometimes I take students with me to the woods, lakes, and rivers.
Horses have been an important part of my life since I was born. I grew up on a horse farm, participated in 4-H Horse Club, competed in breed horse shows and have worked for numerous equine farms and businesses as an adult. Horses have been a passion of mine from a young age. Students in my horse classes will learn history, science, and general knowledge of horses. Snapper, my horse, will join some of my classes to help with demonstrations and real-life applications.
In 2012 I earned my B.S. in Early Childhood and Special Education. I am certified to teach K-5 in the state of Georgia, but I love working with children of all ages. I have taught elementary, middle and high school homeschool children for five years and online students for over two years. I hope to see your student soon! :)
