Welcome to Budget Bosses: Real Life Skills for Smart Kids — an interactive 8-week course where students learn how to earn money, budget wisely, and handle real-world decisions in a fun and relatable way. From choosing a job to paying bills, saving for fun, and preparing for life’s surprises, students will walk away with life-ready skills and a personalized budget that reflects their goals and priorities. This course is ideal for learners ages 10–14 who are ready to take charge of their financial future and understand how the world of money really works—before they even get their first job! 🧠 What Will Be Taught? Students will explore the basics of: Budgeting and money management Understanding jobs, income, and paychecks Fixed vs. variable expenses Needs vs. wants Emergency savings and real-life decision-making Adjusting budgets based on real-world scenarios 🧾 Topics by Week: Each week builds on the last, with engaging lessons like: Picking a career and calculating salary Reading pay stubs and understanding taxes Choosing housing and transportation within budget Reacting to surprise life events (like a flat tire or birthday bonus) Final budget presentations with peer encouragement 🧩 How Is the Class Structured? 1 live class per week (55 minutes) Weekly printable student packets to guide budgeting Interactive activities like games, roleplay, and “Wheel of Life” challenges Final budget showcase in Week 8 🎓 How Will I Teach? My style is hands-on, high-energy, and student-centered. I break down financial concepts into simple, real-world examples kids can relate to—like comparing apartments, building grocery budgets, or deciding if they can afford concert tickets. Lessons include: Slides for visuals Class discussions Games (like Kahoot and budgeting simulations) Guided worksheets I offer encouragement, real-time feedback, and flexible scenarios to let learners make their own choices—and learn from them! 🗣️ How Much Will Learners Interact? A lot! This is a highly interactive class, including: Icebreakers and weekly check-ins Class discussions and open Q&A Budget planning in small groups or solo Kahoot-style quiz games Optional sharing during “Budget Boss Showcase” Each student will get time to share and ask questions. I encourage all learners to make decisions, reflect on their choices, and take ownership of their learning experience.
