Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will:
-be able to plan for a narrative essay
-develop an engaging beginning to their story
-create an ending to their story that fits the storyline
-write descriptive body paragraphs that tell about 3 events of the story
-provide and respond to feedback to other learners
Writing is, potentially, one of the most important skills that we learn. All jobs require some form of writing, as does entry into many programs (including college). By embedding essay-writing in your learner's knowledge toolbox, they are being provided with a solid foundation that will allow for an incredibly strong future construction of knowledge. Mrs. Bombard has worked with budding writers in-person, online, and via tutoring situations across 3 states for over a decade.
All learning materials will be provided by the teacher. Students should have access to highlighters and writing materials (pencil/paper or technology). Students will need to submit activities to the teacher so that personalized feedback can be provided. This will require students to type their responses, although they may write by hand as well if they have the capability to photograph and upload their assignments.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Assessment is conducted in an informal manner throughout each week's tasks and discussions. However a rubric can be used, and provided to families, at the culmination of our four-week class if a more formal grade report is necessary. Please be sure to request this upon enrollment.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
