In this fun and engaging online drawing class, students will have the opportunity to learn how to draw a different animal each week. Using a step-by-step approach and modeling techniques, students will enhance their drawing skills and create detailed animal illustrations. From cute and cuddly pandas to majestic lions, students will discover how to capture the unique characteristics of each animal through color, shading, and proportions. I strive to bring a positive approach to all of my students and to make this a class that my students look forward to joining each week. This class is perfect for aspiring young artists who have a passion for animals and want to improve their drawing abilities in a supportive and creative virtual environment. Learning Goals
Students will gain self-confidence in their ability to draw while producing creative works that demonstrate innovation in concepts, formal language and/or materials. Recognize elements of design in works of art. Analyze, interpret and evaluate the form and content of works of art.

Each student will need a blank 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper along with crayons, colored pencils and markers.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a passion for teaching! I truly enjoy working with children of all ages to help them achieve the goals they have for education. I am trained in Readers Workshop, Writers Workshop and STEM. I feel kids learn best from teacher modeling and mentor texts in mini lessons along with using anchor charts. They apply what they learn from these lessons to their own work.
I recently left the classroom in hopes to bring my experience and expertise to help bridge the gap of classroom instruction interrupted by the pandemic.
I am excited to bring my 20 years of experience working in the public school setting to the online platform. I have worked with kids for over 30 years, ranging from 3 years – 17 years old. For the past 20 years I have taught at Laguna Road School in Fullerton. I have also worked closely with California State Universities to guide and mentor our future teachers. My passion is to build a child’s self-esteem through positive, engaging and fun lessons while pushing their ability to achieve more. I grew up in San Diego, California where I went to school to obtain my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies. I continued on to earn my Masters in Education along with a valid California Teaching Credential. My husband and I moved to Fullerton, CA where I was hired by the Fullerton School District in 2001. Last year, my husband and I made the decision to move our family to Lake Placid, NY. I taught 1st grade at St. Agnes School in Lake Placid for the 2019-2020 school year. Now I want to bring my passion for teaching along with my experience in a classroom to an online platform. I offer a variety of courses that target state standards while addressing each child’s individual needs. I offer small group session of less than ten kids per class, or a private tutoring session. My goal for your child is to offer a positive enriching experience that will lead to a love for learning.
