This course will read the book Bud Not Buddy and track the protagonist's coming of age story alongside our own while drawing parallels to the main character's struggles and joys with their own lived experiences.

Class experience

TLW read Bud Not Buddy and show an understanding of the topics covered by written work, video presentations, and journaling. 
The Learner will connect the topics to everyday life and experiences. 

At the end of the course you will:

understand Bud's point of view on life
define vocabulary words that leads up to a better understanding of the text
connect life in the 30s and 40s with life today
write essays that support your thoughts
create summary paragraphs
answer comprehension questions
understand and apply what it means to live in a time of racism, discrimination, and issues children deal with while growing up
This course prepares students for a new perspective on the war we are fighting today #blacklivesmatter
Computer, pencil, paper, IPAD (whichever the student has and is most comfortable using)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
