Class Experience

Come explore beautiful soap bubbles, their physics, mathematics, and intriguing art connections!

This lesson covers the following soap bubble topics:

* What are soap bubbles?
* Soap bubble physics
* Soap bubble mathematics
* Double bubble conjecture
* Double bubble conjecture in engineering
* Soap bubble freezing
* Soap bubble art performance
* Soap bubbles in art

What's Included:

1). One 30-minute live online class session with Gloria Brooks.

2). One 12-page accompanying study guide

3). One 1-page Bubbleology journal for note-taking and sketching.

What Students Need for Class

2). Optional: print out the study guide for students to handwrite into or fill out digitally during the live class experience.

3). Optional: Pencil with a good eraser if filling out study guide by hand.

4). Optional: Bring bubbles to class for a bubble blowing party at the end of class. Practice blowing the biggest bubble and as many bubbles as you can in 10 seconds. Show us any bubble tricks you invent.

Basic Class structure:

Class begins with a pre-PowerPoint lesson followed by the main lesson PowerPoint taught by Gloria Brooks. After the PowerPoint lesson, learners will engage with an embedded Quizlet together. If any students have brought bubbles to the class, we can have a bubble blowing party.

Learning Goals

Learners will broaden their understanding of soap bubble physics, optics, mathematics, and art through engaging discussion, writing, and an interactive Quizlet.
