I have been a musical theater performer for 15 years and have performed regionally, all over the country and on Broadway. I have a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Musical Theater from the University of Florida. I also have two teaching certifications, one of which is a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Certification. I attained it at One Yoga School in Kho Pha-ngan, Thailand. I specialize in Vinyassa and Hatha Yoga.
Homework will consist of possible memorization task, including but not limited to monologues, scene work and audition songs.
I suggest purchasing a black, three ring binder and non glare sheet protectors to be the bones of the student's "audition book". I suggest printing out the sheet music of each audition song the student prepares. Make sure these are in the right key. Sometimes, these songs can be found online and digitally printed out, with key transposition options.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners are always assessed in the moment through encouragement and constructive notes, especially during workshop classes or mock audition classes.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
I will endeavor to always choose age appropriate material for the student's to work with. However, acting sometimes includes portraying characters with questionable/objectionable actions since it is an actor's job to believably portray real people in real life scenarios. Also, some musical theater songs can include suggestive lyrics. I will be mindful and discerning when promoting specific material. I invite you to reach out and let me know if you have any issues with the material I choose.
Sometimes, I will offer website links as references for the students.
