The class will start with a vocal warm-up to work on vocal technique including diaphragmatic breathing, diction, vowel shape, projection, facial expressions, agility, and range. Next, we will listen to the recording of a broadway song. Next the teacher will instruct the students how to practice the song. We will practice singing the song together. Lastly, students can choose if they would like to sing through the song by themself to perform for the teacher and their classmates. The teacher will give feedback and suggestions for improvement. Common feedback includes the addition of dynamics, phrasing, expression, clear articulation, confidence coaching, and fixing incorrect pitches. This is a fun and safe learning environment. The teacher and other students will provide encouragement and applause during all phases of the learning process. Students can request the music of their choice for future weeks. Week of January 11: Annie (1 or 2 songs depending on how quickly we learn the first song) Week of January 18: Frozen (1 or 2 songs depending on how quickly we learn the first song) Week of January 25: Hamilton (1 or 2 songs depending on how quickly we learn the first song) Week of February 1: Wicked (1 or 2 songs depending on how quickly we learn the first song) Week of February 8: "Dear Evan Hanson" Week of February 15: "The Greatest Showman" Future weeks will be updated closer to the start date based on student interests and requests.
