Class experience
US Grade 4 - 7
In this Broadway dance class, we will kick ball-change and sashay our way to famous Broadway musical show tunes! Each class, we will learn about a Broadway musical and then dance our hearts out. If you love theater, dance, and imagine yourself on Broadway one day, then come give this class a try! All levels welcome. This class is structured into three sections: 1. Students will have an understanding of the history of Broadway musicals, and an appreciation for the dancing and choreography that helps bring a musical to life on stage!
I have been a Dance Educator and Teacher at academies, public schools, university, and non-profit organizations for 12+ years and dancing for the past 26 years having trained in Classical Ballet, Theater Jazz, and Modern dance. I am a professional performer and have performed in shows: The Little Mermaid, Legally Blonde, The Sound of Music and more! I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University (Top 5 University Dance Program in the U.S.) where I also studied Dance History and Kinesiology. Every class I teach is thoughtfully crafted to ensure all students are set up for success and can find joy through movement. I can't wait to have you in class!
You should be in a space cleared from clutter and debris so it is safe to move about freely. Bring some water or a water bottle in case you get thirsty! Clothes that are comfortable to move in as well as dance shoes, socks or bare feet is fine.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Since Dance is a physical activity, it is recommended there be adult supervision throughout class as there is always a level of risk and injury that can occur with any physical activity. Please have a space cleared of debris and clutter (minimum 4X4 ft square) so your learner can move about freely and safely. Having a water bottle or water near is important in case your learner gets thirsty during class (we will take a short designated water break during class). Safety is my #1 priority as a teacher, so let's make sure your learner is in a safe environment so we can have fun dancing together!
