Calling all theatre kids! Does your teenager love all things broadway? Are they destined for the big stage or simply love dancing to show tunes? This is the class for them! In this workshop we will be developing dance and performance skills in the genre of Broadway Jazz. We will work on our core dance technique to improve flexibility, use of dynamics and strength. Performance technique will be at the heart of our class, as we aim to boost the student's confidence and charisma when performing. The class structure will be the following ; Cardiovascular warmup Limbering Strengthening / Core Conditioning Stretching/ Flexibility Brief technical exercises / corner work combination Routine The class will be approx 60% warm up/stretch/technique and 40% routine. This class is open to students of all abilities. Please note; I am aware that the majority of my students are dancing at home, as am I, with limited space. Most of the work will be choreographed with this in mind, but students are encouraged to modify steps where necessary, to suit their space. Adequate floor space for moving and exercising safely is strictly encouraged.
Learning Goals
Students will be improving their physical fitness, co-ordination, flexibility, and body awareness as well as developing their confidence and self esteem. There is a social element to class and students will be making new friends and connections. The class will also help the teenager to develop their creativity, imagination and self expression through the medium of dance. Musicality and rhythm will also be worked on in this class. I hope that this class will build core technique and performance ability for any dancer to go on and perform in whatever they choose to do.

Parental Guidance
Please ensure appropriate clothing is worn to allow free movement. Please clear a free space for your student to move and dance without any hazards. Ensure comfortable footwear - bare feet is okay but please refrain from wearing socks alone as this may cause slipping and injury. Lastly, ensure you have some water nearby to take at your discretion.

My name is Emma and I am a professional theatre performer and experienced teacher in all areas of the performing arts. I teach a wide range of classes in all disciplines including ballet, musical theatre, jazz dance and more! My aim as a teacher is to nurture the children's creativity and passion for performing arts as well as developing technique and skillsets which they can carry with them in many areas of their life, not just on the stage! First and foremost, I want my students to HAVE FUN! This will allow them to develop a love for the performing arts, just like I have myself, as I believe this is fundamental key to learning any performance based skills. Performance art needs to come from a place of genuine love, and inspired creativity and this is what I hope to instil in my students. Whether they are looking to eventually study the arts as a career, or simply just let their hair down to their favourite dance track after a long day of school, I hope to provide students with a creative outlet and friendly learning environment, suitable for all ages and abilities, so what are you waiting for ?
