Day 1: Broadway Holiday Princess Musical Reveal - focus on story, character, and song. Day 2: Sing, Dance, and Act - focus on telling the story through lyrics and movement. Day 3: Behind the Scenes - focus on costume pieces, review performance pieces, and choreography. Day 4: Putting it All Together - focus on rehearsal technique, review and perform what we learned throughout the week This camp is a perfect fit for novice and intermediate musical theatre performers. My teaching style is active, and students can expect to be up moving around and using their voices, as this is an activity-based class. Performers will want to bring a water bottle and a second device such as a phone or tablet to play the princess song during their final class performance. We can't wait to see you in class!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their acting, vocal ability, movement, and performance skills. They will learn how to be a supportive team player, learn audience etiquette, gain confidence, and improve their communication skills.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
During the class actors will need to be in a relatively noise-free space, where they can sing at full voice and perform any choreography full out. Pets, television shows, and siblings are all great, but sadly background noise and distractions hinder an effective rehearsal process. Camp members are encouraged to wear clothing that is easy and comfortable to move in and a flexible tennis shoe or sneaker. Please print a water bottle each day. Younger students may need assistance during the first day of class operating Zoom features such as turning their microphone on and off during the session. Students should feel comfortable being on camera for this course as it is a visual performing arts class and will require all students to be visible on-screen at times during the rehearsal process and final performance.
Supply List
Please bring a water bottle each day. Students will need a second device to play music on the last day of camp. Costume creation will be constructed from common materials and clothing found in most homes. Any and all other materials needed for class will be posted in the classroom.
