Description

Class Experience

Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of basic Broadway history and its evolution. They will learn about the most important shows in Broadway's historical development, see how dance, music, costume, set and acting styles changed through the decades and will develop skills in how to view a musical with a critical eye.
Each week students will be assigned to watch a full length live musical (free YouTube links will be provided, but students are welcome to watch another version if they prefer) and to answer a few questions to help them think critically about what they are watching. This will be discussed with the group in the following class.
Students may want note taking supplies and will need access to YouTube to complete their assignments.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
  • YouTube
Grades and/or written assessments are available by request but with otherwise not be offered.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
