This 3-day Broadway Musical Theatre Camp is ideal for the performer who loves to perform in musicals. Learners will learn the fundamentals of singing, acting and dancing. In this interactive, upbeat and energetic camp, Broadway Bootcamp is geared towards beginners who have little to no previous Musical Theatre experience. Each day will start with a Broadway Jazz dance style warm-up, where students learn about different styles of musical theatre dance. We then move on to the singing component, where we will work on pitch, tone and sound quality through fun and interactive vocal warm-up exercises. The second half of each class is entirely devoted to working on the selected song/s for the final performance. Learners will apply their skills to the material, which will be chosen from a kid friendly Broadway Musical such as, Annie, Frozen, The Sound Of Music, Hairspray, High School Musical etc. Learners will additionally learn Musical Theatre vocabulary, as well as engage in class discussions of the background of the shows from the songs that are being performed. On the last day, performers will be a part of a virtual presentation, where they will perform a song/s and dance/s from a Broadway Musical that they have rehearsed during the three days. Parental Guidance
***A large open and quiet space is required, as there is a lot of singing, dancing and movement done each day. Comfortable clothing such as, athletic or dance attire works perfectly well. As for shoes, if your child is participating on a hard surface floor such as hardwood or tile, a pair of running shoes are recommended for proper support. Should your child be in carpeted room, non stick socks work. Please no ear buds or headsets with cords. The microphone form your child's device works perfectly well. No prior stretching or warming-up is required and water bottles are a must!
***Performing virtually does have its limitations. As per Outschool’s policies, household members are welcome to watch their child perform live from afar and a comfortable distance from the actors device. Parents/family/friends are unable to join the zoom meeting and view the final camp showcase. Household members are able to view the video, which will be posted in the classroom the next day. For your child’s safety Outschool policies does not permit the video of the performance to be emailed or edited.
***Lyrics and tracks will be provided and posted in the classroom before the first day of camp. There will be the opportunity for students to sing solo within the songs that are selected.
***Depending on class size will determine how many songs and solos we perform.
***No supplies are needed for this class.
