Class Experience
Let's develop our own fantastical landscapes by digging deeper into a genre that's filled with mythical characters, talking animals, ordinary people with extraordinary abilities, where the unthinkable becomes reality, and the impossible becomes the possible! We'll learn that the elements used in all writing (setting, characters, plot, and theme) take on a fresh purpose and energy when used in the fantasy fiction genre. There will also be three quick-writes written and shared with one...
Students will find that their creativity and confidence within this genre will be increased when they learn the elements and purposes of fantasy fiction.
I've taught reading and writing to multiple ages for several years, and I also have served as an instructional coach. I absolutely love to write and share the joy of writing, and I've taught writing for several years. I understand that writing isn't everyone's cup of tea, so I am beyond happy to share some ways to bring your words to the surface. Oftentimes, it's just a matter of sorting out what's happening in your brain and getting it to come out in the right order. I'm here for you!
There is no homework assigned, as each of these meetings will be a one-time class.
Be prepared to write (pencil and paper or into a document), and we'll be in great shape!
We'll be in constant conversation and will discuss our thinking and our work throughout the classes.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
