If you know you would like to learn some British Sign Language, then this class is for you! Over the course of the class I will teach you signs useful for simple conversations, how to use correct hand shapes and facial expressions, and a little about how the structure of BSL differs from English. Learners will become confident at communicating at a simple level using BSL.
I have been learning British Sign Language for 7 years and recently achieved my Level 3 certificate. I am a Teacher of the Deaf for my local council and use BSL with Deaf children every day. I am also partially deaf myself.
Learners will be expected to practise what they have learnt each week, to allow them to remember signs and begin to sign with some fluency.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
