25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this twenty-five minute class, that has a maximum of two students, we will learn about money! This lesson is suitable for the British Key Stage 1 maths curriculum and for children who will use British money. Ideally, the students will already know coins to 10p, but I will recap on these, as well as teaching all of the other coins to £2. The children will find out about some of the exciting designs that The Royal Mint has created, such as the Olympic 50p coins. They will also look at how some coins have changed over time. For example I will talk about the old round £1 and new £1 coin and the reason why the design was changed. We will talk about different ways to make given amounts, why we need money and the importance of being careful with money. The children will order coins from the smallest to greatest worth, and they will observe the colour, size and shape.
Learning Goals
Students will identify 1p, 2p, 5p,10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 pound coins.
Investigate different ways to make small totals.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and welcome to Outschool! My name is Vicky, and I am so excited to meet your student(s)! I am a certified British teacher with thirteen years of classroom experience. I was awarded the Postgraduate Certificate of Education for Primary years from Lancaster University, and I also have a TEFL qualification and B.A. (Hons) in Combined Arts. I’ve been fortunate to teach children in schools in England, Thailand and at an international school in South Korea. I have taught all core and foundation curriculum subjects for age three to eleven; including math, English, science, ICT, D&T, art, music, P.E., social and emotional health, history, geography and French. In addition, I have taught English as an additional language and taught private lessons online, which has taught me how to engage students in a virtual setting. I am very experienced in accommodating the needs of all students and making learning fun. Every student can learn, and I believe we all learn in different ways. Whichever class your student attends, I am hoping to get to know them.
