Description
Class Experience
Students will learn to create a well rounded character from the ground up. They will learn to give their character a background, personality and a voice. Students will also look at examples of good character development in various texts.
I have been teaching in many different capacities for the past 18 years. I have managed preschool programs, and for the past six years, I have been highly involved as a mentor in many subjects for our local homeschool community. I am a certified IEW Instructor, and I continue to attend supplemental seminars and events, which support my growth as an IEW instructor.
Students should spend roughly an hour per week developing their character and using the skills they learned in previous classes.
Students should have lined paper, pencil and crayons. Blank paper for sketching and drawing is optional. I will send a PDF doc with necessary printouts prior to the start of class. These should be printed and ready for the student to access. YouTube will also be utilized in this class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Progress is assessed through attendance as well as by demonstrating their understanding with their final character.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
