We will discuss in detail the origin of the German Shepherd dog breed, dog size, what the breed was originally bred for, how the German Shepherd got its name, life expectancy, temperament, and so much more! Students will get a chance to share any information about German Shepherd that they may know. If the student has a German Shepherd, they are encouraged to bring the dog to class to show and tell us all about their pet. Students are not required to have a German Shepherd to join this class! Students are not required to keep a dog journal but they are encouraged to take notes and draw a picture of this breed so they can start an entire resource journal of different dog breeds. The last slide(s) of each presentation will have "stats" about the dog breed that we learned about this is the information that the students will be encouraged to include in their journal. I will include a printable for the German Shepherd, the students can write directly on this printable or they can create their own resource journal out of a notebook (this is optional).

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Missy.
I have been a teacher for the past 19 years. I have taught every grade 1st-8th (with the exception of 2nd grade). Currently, I am an Instruction Coach and work with teachers to help build curriculum, foster relationships with students, and add rigor to their lessons for comprehension and student engagement. I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and I enjoy creating lessons for students that connect to real-life experiences. I truly believe that all students can learn, we all just may learn in a different way. I love the challenge of taking a lesson and creating multiple ways to teach it so that all students can access the content. I am a mother to three hockey-playing boys and we spend a lot of time in rinks (oddly enough I do not like being cold). My youngest son is dyslexic and I am always trying to find new ways to teach him. I take the same determination to help him be successful in my classroom to help others because I know that all students deserve a teacher who believes in them!
I am an avid reader and I love to be creative! I use my Cricut machine daily and I cant not wait to share my ideas with others. I will be teaching many different types of classes from reading strategies that work, study skills, note-taking, book discussions, and even how to create your own t-shirt designs. I am looking forward to the opportunity to share my passion for teaching and creativity with you and your child.
