Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
The pets are back and better than ever.... You might have taken your pet traveling in a prior creative writing class, or just brought them with you to write a creative story. This time your pet is....going to the Pet Olympics. Your pet might have special hidden talents that nobody knows about. It is time to let them shine. At the end of this course your child will have written three creative writing stories about their pet at the olympics.
1) What topics will I cover? I will cover how to write a creative writing story with a beginning, middle, and end. We will work on making three separate paragraphs with complete sentences, punctuation, and details that make your Olympic story shine.
2)What topics will I cover? I will cover how to write a creative writing story that works on effective writing skills. Students will also get some reading practice with a book that I will read.
3) What is my teaching style like? My teaching style is interactive, but also geared towards getting content accomplished. Screens will have to be muted unless you are the one talking due to the high number of animals present in the class. Barking, chirping, and meowing can be distracting. However, your students will get the opportunity to read their story to their peers at the end of class. They will also be encouraged to raise their hand to answer questions to prevent talking over each other.

Lesson:
Week 1) Students will introduce themself and their pets by telling the class any hidden talents that their pet might have. We will then talk about what the Olympics is and I will show a video of my pets doing "Olympic pet activities". Students will then get to read a story about the Olympics and answer comprehension questions. Then, we will talk about the beginning, middle, and end of a creative writing story and what goes into one. Next, I will model how to write a pet olympics creative writing story with all the included parts. Last, students will have the opportunity to read their stories to their peers.

Week 2) Students will introduce themself and their pets by telling the class any hidden talents that their pet might have. Then, we will talk about what we learned last week.Students will then get to read a different story about the Olympics and answer comprehension questions. Then, we will talk about the beginning, middle, and end of a creative writing story and what goes into one. This week we will be focusing more on details and why those are important. I will then model how to use details in a pet olympic creative writing story. Last, students will have the opportunity to share their stories.

Week 3) Students will introduce themself and their pets by telling the class any hidden talents that their pet might have. Students will then get to read a different story about the Olympics and answer comprehension questions. Then, we will talk about the beginning, middle, and end of a creative writing story and what goes into one, as well as details from week two. This week we will be focusing on conclusions. I will then model how to write a good conclusion in your pet olympics creative writing story. Last, students will have the opportunity to share their stories.

Hello Everyone!! I have a joke for you.....
What school do you greet people in?......Hi School!:):)

I LOVE teaching! I graduated from West Texas A&M University with my bachelor's degree in elementary education. I have also acquired a masters degree in reading instruction, and am passionate about teaching kids to read. When I graduated college I taught first grade for two years in North Carolina. I have also had the opportunity to teach English online with VIPKID for a couple years. This is an ESL company based in China. This has given me experience with making learning FUN in the online environment. I have lots of tricks up my sleeve. I really enjoy teaching creative writing, so if you are interested in getting your child engaged while writing, I would love to be your teacher:) I also have two precious Corgi's named Peach and Noodle that like to make appearances in my classes as well. Students always look forward to this. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thanks so much and I hope to meet you all soon!
