Description

Class Experience

Students will improve their baking skills as they practice making five different truffle recipes.
I have always loved baking! In high school, I discovered how to make cake balls and began baking them for all kinds of events--bridal showers, baby showers, weddings, and graduations. I have been baking them ever since and now enjoy trying new recipes. I love to share my love of baking with others, and I can't wait to share this "hobby" of mine with your "brilliant baker!"
Each week, students will be expected to watch the instructional video and follow the directions to complete the recipe. After finishing their creations, students are required to post a picture or video on our class page. We will then interact with one another as we comment on each students' finished products.
Each week, students will follow the instructional video to make a different truffle recipe. New ingredient lists and recipes will be provided to students a week before the class begins so they have plenty of time to gather supplies. In order to prepare for the first class (Cake Ball Truffles), please have the following supplies: -a baked, cooled cake (box mixes are totally acceptable!) **not frosted! -one can of frosting (your choice of flavor) -one package of almond bark (chocolate or vanilla) -a large bowl to mix -a large spoon to stir -a microwave-safe bowl to melt the almond bark -a baking sheet -wax paper or parchment paper -small spoons *optional materials: -sprinkles, food coloring, colored candy melts, candy, a piping bag, or other materials to decorate the cake balls with -a cake ball dropper -a cookie scoop (if you don't want to make the balls by hand) -truffle paper (if you want to be fancy!)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parental supervision is required, as students will be using kitchen equipment such as a stove, oven, and microwave.
