Are you a new violin or viola player? Did you get a brand-new instrument during the holidays? Are you looking for inspiration and motivation to keep practicing? This course is perfect for brand-new strings students and those with up to a year of playing experience.

Get started on your musical journey with a closer look at good posture, bow grip, and tone. We will practice strings techniques through fun games and exercises. We will cheer each other on in a lighthearted and supportive environment. You will experience demonstrations, feedback, and encouragement. We will interact with each other and the teacher by showing off our new skills.

Based on learners' needs in each group, we'll cover skills including:

🎻 How to hold the instrument comfortably and correctly.
🎻 How to care for your violin or viola and bow.
🎻 Parts of the violin/viola and string names.

Day 2
🎻 How to hold the bow and improve bow grip to play with ease.
🎻 How to tune your instrument.
🎻 How to play short and long bow strokes.
🎻 Listening and rhythm activities.

Day 3
🎻 Listening and rhythm activities.
🎻 Note names on a one-octave scale.
🎻 A simple song - for example, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," "French Folk Song," or "Boil 'em Cabbage Down."
