Beginner Level
Are you a new violin or viola player? Have you signed up for strings or orchestra classes? This course is perfect for brand-new strings students and those with up to a year of playing experience. Get started on your musical journey with a closer look at good posture, bow grip, and tone. We will practice strings techniques through fun games and exercises. We will cheer each other on in a lighthearted and supportive environment. You will experience demonstrations, feedback, and encouragement. We will interact with each other and the teacher by showing off our new skills. The class will begin with introductions and learners will share what they already know about playing their instrument, or share something they are excited to learn. Based on learners' needs in each group, we'll cover skills including: 🎻 How to hold the instrument comfortably and correctly. 🎻 How to care for instrument and bow. 🎻 How to hold the bow and improve bow grip to play with ease. 🎻 Parts of the violin/viola and string names. 🎻 Placing fingers on the fingerboard. 🎻 Listening and rhythm activities. Get a taste of what violin or viola lessons are like with encouragement from a kind and friendly teacher. Jump into strings with a bright beginning and you'll be playing beautifully before you know it!
Learning Goals
Students will learn proper violin and viola posture and bow grip. Students will learn techniques and exercises for improving playing posture and tone on their instruments.

Violin or viola in good playing condition. Violin or viola bow and rosin. Shoulder rest and tuner are recommended.

He hopes to inspire kids to pick up and continue to play the violin, an instrument he immediately fell in love with. When teaching, he always focuses on the things learners are doing right. He gives encouragement and advice through positive feedback.
