๐ฟ Step into the world of Terabithia & strengthen your reading skills! Reading isnโt just an essential skillโitโs a gateway to imagination and adventure! In this live summer book club, students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade will dive into the beloved classic Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. Through engaging activities, students will explore plot, character development, themes, and vocabulary while building strong reading comprehension skills. ๐ What Students Will Learn: Throughout the course, students will: โ Analyze plot events โ Identify key moments in the story โ Describe characters โ Explore character traits, motivations, and relationships โ Recognize themes โ Discuss central ideas like friendship, courage, and loss โ Strengthen vocabulary โ Define and use new words from the book โ Support answers with text evidence โ Practice citing the story for deeper understanding ๐ How the Course Works: ๐ For each reading section, students will receive: โ๏ธ A set of comprehension questions & vocabulary words to complete while reading โ๏ธ Interactive activities to reinforce key concepts ๐ Each class session includes: โ๏ธ A review of comprehension questions, vocabulary, plot points, and character analysis โ๏ธ A discussion of important quotes, themes, and literary elements โ๏ธ A fun, interactive Blooket game based on the assigned chapters! ๐ By the end of this course, students will not only improve their reading skills but also develop a deeper appreciation for literature and storytelling.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their reading comprehension skills by answering questions and participating in discussions.
Students will gain knowledge of new vocabulary words by defining unknown words and participating in discussions.

Parental Guidance
Students will play Blooket to review key information from the readings. They don't need an account to play the game.
Bridge to Terabithia mentions Christmas, Easter, God and the Bible. One character is hit by her father. One of the main characters also drowns in chapter 10.
Pre-Requisites
Students need to be able to read a 4th grade level text independently.
Supply List
A copy of Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. This book can be found at the library, local bookstore or online. A pen/pencil The instructor will be supplying background information videos, reading comprehension questions, and vocabulary graphic organizers.
