Class experience
Is your child excited about the holidays? Come have fun with a winter/holiday themed story and build with other brick builder friends! We'll unlock some holiday/winter creativity by building with bricks as we enjoy time to talk, engage with the book, and share our creations! Participate in an interactive read aloud. Student will be able to use oral language skills to express favorite part of the story. Student will be able to answer comprehension questions about what was heard. Student will be able to design and build a winter or holiday themed creation.
Read alouds are a vital part of a child's development and a wonderful way to engage learners in the reading process. As an experienced classroom teacher and elementary school librarian, with a Master's in Reading, I love to captive students with wonderful pictures books. I love to incorporate skills like predictions, connections, and summarizing when doing read alouds so learners connect to the text. Adding in the element of building, allows your child to use his/her creativity to build something related to the text and our holiday theme. Fostering the love of creativity and reading are two of my passions and I hope your child will find this course a fun winter favorite!
Your child will need building bricks to complete their creation each week.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
As a teacher, librarian, and mom of 3 young children, I always recommend parents preview books prior to the class to see if they are appropriate for your child.
