Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
In this class we will meet weekly and engage in learner-directed discussions of all things Brick Ninja! Topics may include the T.V. series, characters, the Brick Ninja movie, the Brick Ninja video game and discussion of brick builder sets and character builds. There will often be activities such as trivia, debates and show and tell. Kids will have the opportunity to suggest discussion topics and participate in free flowing conversations! Kids will get the chance to talk about their favorite characters with other fans of the series and they will be able learn facts they may not have already known as well as share with the group things they have learned about or from Brick Ninja. This class is great for kids with any knowledge of Brick Ninjas whether they are new the franchise or have been into it for years!

My class setting is a relaxed, fun, open space for students to be able to discuss and express their thoughts about what we are learning. I encourage student interaction with not only myself but with their fellow classmates. Everyone is expected to be respectful and listen to one another but also feel like they have the ability to share their own thoughts and opinions. I believe learning should be fun and try to provide a space for that to happen.

No prior knowledge of previous classes is necessary and students can jump in at any time.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to express their opinions in a kind, respectful way. They will learn conversation skills and become comfortable with public speaking all while having a great time. They will learn how to support their opinions and support others in the process. They will learn listening skills, turn taking and group togetherness. Additionally, they will be engaged in a group discussion and learn what it is to be part of a community.

Hi! I love to teach classes that are fun and promote discussion and creativity. In all of my classes I mix critical thinking with out of the box thinking so that the kids learn something brand new! I find the best way to do this is by using books, video games, trivia and other interactive components to keep them engaged and wanting to learn.

My passion for critical thought stems from my degree in Philosophy. The integration of pop culture in my classes is rooted in a lifetime of toy collecting, video game playing, and during my time as a staff writer for an online comic book review site. Over the past five years I have created community-based, pop-up craft classes for parents and children that integrate culture and thought, and I am excited about the opportunity to share these types of activities with my students!

Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, two cats and puppy! I love online gaming and spending a lot of time crafting.
