In this one time class, we will explore the history of tea, different teas and a few of the traditions and ceremonies relating to tea.

Assessment
Learners will be assessed informally through discussion and Question & Answer. If families want a formal assessment: Learners may turn in a 1-4 page summary of what they learned that includes key details and events and a final opinion about their favorite or most interesting things they learned.

Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 7
This class covers three tea related topics. For the first part of class we will look at the broad view of the history of tea. Then we will look at how tea and tea culture has developed in different areas of the world. Lastly, we will look at types of tea and the science behind claims that tea is "healthy" or "good" for you. 
The class will be mostly lecture based, however there will be opportunities for questions and discussion. Learners are encouraged to share what they know already about tea. Or how tea plays a part in their life. All information will be on a powerpoint slide. If requested a handout with notes will also be provided.
No prior knowledge is required. 
Learners may bring a favorite tea to share with class. This show and tell will include the learner describing the flavors of the tea and why they like it.
Learning Goals
Learners will understand the history of tea and it's importance in some world cultures. 
Learners will be able to identify different types of tea and the health benefits of each.

Parental Guidance
Single Learner Classes: - Single learner classes will go ahead as scheduled unless learner and family request otherwise. - Lesson may end early. If the lesson ends early there will be an extended discussion and Q & A. Learners may be released from class up to 5 minutes early if Q & A ends early.
Supply List
A one page handout of notes will be provided upon request.
A list of "Further Reading Books" will be provided upon request.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
