This is a Yoga class for learning breathing control exercises for specific purposes. We will cover a variation of techniques, including among others Ujjayi (ocean or victorious breath), Brahmari (buzzing bee) and Nadi Shodhanna (alternate nostril breathing) techniques (good for centering, grounding, relaxing, balancing). The class will begin with a virtual circle where Learners will be invited to feel comfortable, and share if they know anything about Yoga. Then I will explain what is...
Students will learn 3 specific techniques from the yogic tradition that they will be able to practice in the future when they would like to center, relax, and/or balance. Any one of these techniques has the gift of helping reestablish well-being at all levels, and as needed for their different life situations, such as prior to performances, competitions, or any occasion they need some peaceful & rebalancing me-time.
Teacher has a B.A. in psychology, is a Yoga & Meditation college professor, holds the highest credentials from the Yoga Alliance as a Teacher and lead Yoga Teacher Trainer, and is also a Yoga therapist.
This class meets once, so there is no homework, only an open invitation that they continue practicing to develop these wonderful skills. They are welcome to retake this class any time as a way of further cultivating their practice.
Learner will require a quiet space without electronic interruptions, a mat, cushion or chair to sit and be comfortable for the duration of the class.
My goal is that every Learner will master the techniques during class, and the assessment will come at the end in the form of encouraging review and direct congratulations. My expectation is that each Learner will have understood the techniques for each fascinating breath, and a lot more.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
