In this class, we will briefly cover what kind of animals pterosaurs are, when they lived, and aspects of their biology. I will cover important terms of the skeleton. I will then summarize a new scientific paper about pterosaur launch behavior. The class will begin with 25 minutes of 'lecture' using slides and then open the class to discussion and questions for 20 minutes. This class is aimed at learners that are considered 'dino-experts.' These include learners that have memorized many dinosaur encyclopedias and are craving information about how the science of paleontology is done and current discussions in the field.
Learning Goals
Students will learn what kind of animals pterosaurs are, when they lived, and aspects of their biology.
Students will learn parts of the skeleton that are important for understanding the new work.
Students will also be introduced to current methods of motion analysis in extinct animals.
