Class Experience

Hey confident class! In an effort to build on your skills and play more with our moves, I've created a camp for multiple levels to test your skills with classmates in a series of games & challenges. Every class will have individual challenges to help learners upgrade the move/concept at their level and games with easier movements to engage everyone.

Week 1 (Move Challenges)
- We will review the form for certain steps/moves. Teacher will issue a challenge for each learner based on their level with the move.
- Balance challenges - teacher will issue challenges for different freezes as students check in what their best freezes are.
- teacher will also check in with power foundations

Week 2 (Muscle Memory + Transitions)
- teacher will show students fun transitions into the freezes from last week
- We'll explore ways to link moves together through games such as the chain game
- smooth recovery challenge - teacher will train students to recover/finish strong

Week 3 (Freestyle + Partner Work)
- Teacher will help students create chains + signature moves
- Commando fun - Students will learn social dances to use for commandos and create their own commandos with classmates

Week 4 (Musicality Games)
- Teacher will help students train their musicality with the moves they've been working on
- This week will have more complete/challenging games where students must dance for nearly a full set.
Learning Goals
By the end of camp students will
- have better form for foundational toprock + footwork
- have better foundational for power moves with their freeze work
- have more custom moves/chains

Parental Guidance
My "Outschool Breakdance" Spotify playlist is an external resource available for all students. You'll need to create a basic account to access it for free (on shuffle mode) or a paid account to select specific songs from the list. Music is a mix of hip-hop and funk, but has been screened for appropriate lyrics. Wrist warm-ups/exercises will be required for learning/practicing the bottomrock moves. It is also advisable that students should wear comfortable shoes (sneakers) and clothes for dancing (not oversized). As well, students should have a clear open space for dancing and a distance from the computer that allows me to see them from head to toe in order to ensure they're doing the moves properly. A water bottle is also required for brief breaks.
Pre-Requisites
PREREQUISITE: Students must know 5 toprock steps, 3 go-downs, 5 footwork moves, 3 freezes (headstand, pilot, & baby) + a dance arsenal of their moves. (Take camp 1 & 2 or show me a dance arsenal with the above listed moves the dancer can do

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I traveled around the world (40+ countries) while teaching and learning from the local dancers. Also, I was mentored by a world renown breakdancer while living in Korea for three years. This mentorship mixed with my experience and personal training has made me particularly knowledgeable and skilled in the topic.
