In this one time class, students will learn about what stories are real and fake on the internet. This class will be a collaborative discussion about how the digital world can present false information and learn to be more cautious online.

Description
Class Experience
Students will learn the definition of fake news, propoganda, and digital hoaxes. They will learn the difference between deliberate misinformation, false headlines, social media sharing and satire in the media. They will learn what questions to ask when evaluating a news story on their own social media outlets.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Some content may include mature stories shared online between different groups of friends. All material presented in class will be appropriate in nature.
