Description

Class Experience

We will begin by sharing the children's story The Hard Times Jar by Ethel Footman Smothers. As we read, we will discuss the key elements used in writing a solid story - character, setting, goal, motivation, conflict, and resolution. Students will use a notetaking sheet to help them capture their learning visually. Students will discuss other examples of these elements found in books they have read and enjoyed. They will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and ask and answer questions...

Students will improve their understanding of the building blocks of storytelling: character, setting, goal, motivation, conflict, and resolution.

55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
