Reading with comprehension is an important skill across all subject areas. Some students may need extra help to achieve grade level reading goals. I am a certified English teacher, and I have experience helping students learn how to use annotation and other reading strategies to break down text. In our tutoring sessions, students will be given the opportunity to read without stress or intimidation. We will discuss phonics, vocabulary, and structure. Option 1- I will work with materials...
Students will be able to: -Annotate text -Apply reading strategies to understand meaning in text. -Summarize text. -Determine the meaning of general academic words and phrases in a text relevant to a topic or subject area.
I am a certified teacher, and I have taught middle & high school Language Arts for over a decade. I have a BA in both Comparative Literature & Spanish Language and Literature from Hamilton College. I earned my Master of Science for Teachers in Education from Pace University, and I am a content creator for teachers, students and parents.
Students should practice reading at least 20 minutes a day.
Students may supply any texts they are currently working on.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
