1 hour per week. I clean as I go when I'm in the kitchen but not everyone works that way and that's OK. If this is your style, your job after is to put all ingredients away, clean all items used for your recipe and clean all surfaces. Don't forget to put towels, aprons, etc. away also. Leave your work area cleaner than you found it! When you cook it's always more enjoyable to share what you've so eagerly created so please share your creations with family and friends. Let them enjoy your new recipes with you!Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 9
Beginner - Advanced Level
This class will include three different recipes. Students will learn how to make bread, naan (My videos say rolls and I've decided to have more variety and make naan the second day), and cinnamon rolls from scratch and enjoy sharing them with family and friends. This class will last between an hour and an hour and a half. The first 2 days will be closer to an hour, but the third day, cinnamon rolls, will be longer. This class is a live teacher baking demonstration, discussion, pointers and tips on baking. Students may create their recipe along with me as I walk them through the steps of the recipe or they may choose to watch the class, then create their recipe with our class video after they've followed along the first time. Take pictures or a short video of your finished recipe if you'd like to share them in the classroom and let me know of any questions or concerns/comments you have. At the end of each class, students will: -understand the basics of reading a recipe and measurements used in the recipe -recall the steps of each recipe and how to work through each step -be more comfortable working in the kitchen and kitchen safety -Gain confidence in sharing what they've created and choose to have pride in their creation Class 1: Basic bread made in just over an hour!! Class 2: Rolls- We'll recreate the bread recipe again and I'll teach a variety of different ways to shape them. Just for fun, for the Oct 30-Nov 1 section, we'll use some orange food coloring for Halloween. Class 3: Cinnamon Rolls with orange glaze. (I saved the best for the end!) ** Please note-It's not the norm to refund each time a student misses a class as they are able to watch the class video later when they are home from a camp or vacation (I have many students who do the classes on their vacation!), or when they are feeling better if they get sick, and still receive most of the benefits of the class. I send them the ingredient list the week before, the recipe the morning of the class for their records, and then the class is recorded at the listed time. With that said there are sometimes extenuating circumstances in which you have no control! If you are in need of a refund in these cases please message me so we can talk! For live meetings, I wait for 10 minutes in the classroom. If students do not show, a recording will be provided but no refund.**
Learning Goals
At the end of each class, students will be:
- more acquainted and comfortable with reading and following a recipe
- more confident working through the written steps of the recipe (asking for help if needed)
- more familiar with kitchen safety and kitchen equipment
- confident in sharing what they've created and have pride in their work
- asked to clean their space when finished cooking and remember to have this be a regular process after using the kitchen

Parental Guidance
As the parent I would ask that you make sure your child is ready to be in a classroom setting to bake in the kitchen. Your children may need your assistance to make certain they are safe and comfortable with the oven, knives, possibly small appliances, etc. NOTE: Outschool's policy is that adults need to remain off-screen.
If recipes are not finished when the class time is over I will leave the students as the item goes in the oven and the timer is started. They will have clear instructions on how to finish up after class is over.
**Please note that each baking class has a posted minimum amount of students for me to teach the class. This minimum is 3. Please feel free to share the classes you are enrolled in and let your friends know of this class so the minimum is filled. Classes that do not meet the minimum within 48 hours of class beginning will be canceled.
As the teacher, I will wait 10 minutes in the classroom after start time. If students do not show, a recording will be provided but no refund will be given.**
Supply List
I will send you the recipe we will be creating a week early so you can decide to collect ingredients and cook with me or watch and create them later. Whatever style of learning works best for you is fine with me. I will enjoy you in class, either way you choose to do class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
