Students will receive 2:1 sessions with me covering either material I will provide for them or anything that they need help with from their in-school curriculum. This class is structured and curated to the learner's needs. Daily practice is highly recommended in order to achieve the maximum results in language acquisition. The 2:1 sessions can also be used to complement any of the classes offered in the Brazilian Portuguese for Young Learners series to help build on speaking, reading, and comprehension. Supplementary resources will be provided to the learner to reinforce successful learning. Students will learn through the online format. There is no prior knowledge necessary. Homework assignments will include writing exercises and vocabulary lists. Learner progress will be evaluated through participation. The student will develop skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Brazilian Portuguese. There will be additional resources provided by the Instructor of the class through Quizlet and Kahoot. 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐬: 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟏: 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 There will be classroom introductions & classroom expectations. Learners will be introduced to Portuguese greetings and the difference between formal and informal conversation, how to introduce oneself, ask for one's name, and how to say goodbye. Learners will learn about cardinal numbers from 0 to 100 that will be broken up in the next couple of sessions. Learners will have an opportunity to practice using the new vocabulary in class and record what they have learned for the teacher. 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 & 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 What day is it? What time is it? Learners will learn the days of the Week, months and seasons of the year, date structure, and examples. They will be able to learn how to ask for the time in Portuguese using the parts of the day and the Brazilian system. There will be activities in couples reading and writing dates with times. 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟑: 𝐀𝐥𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭 & 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬 Learners will be introduced to the Portuguese alphabet. In this session, we will work on the pronunciation of vowels and consonants, how to spell their name, and the application of the Portuguese alphabet. Learners will also learn the colours in Portuguese and be able to describe the colour of different objects in Portuguese using the verb 'ser'. There will be a series of exercises and games for the students. 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟒: 𝐌𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 The class will begin with a short review of what we have learned in Portuguese. Learners will learn about the parts of their house in Portuguese through songs, exercises, and games. Learners will draw pictures of their dream houses that they will present in the following class using the verbs 'ser' and 'estar'. 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟓: 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐬 The class will begin with learners presenting their dream house in Portuguese. Learners will learn new vocabulary relating to commonly used verbs and nouns associated to animals. Learners will do a presentation of their favorite animal at the beginning of the following class. 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟔: 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 Learners will learn about family members in Portuguese through different exercises and games facilitated by the teacher. Students will be able to describe the members of their family using the verbs 'ser' and 'chamar'. Learners will draw pictures of their family trees to present at the beginning of the following class. 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟕: 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 Learners will learn how to say different foods in Portuguese. Learners will also learn about Portuguese food. There will be an activity where all the learners will pretend that they are at a restaurant. 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟖: 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 & 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 Students will present their final country projects to one another. There will also be a comprehensive review & reflection of what learners achieved during the past eight weeks.
