Brazilian Portuguese for Beginners (Level 1)
Class experience
In this 55 minute class, students are introduced to Portuguese language and Brazilian culture. Lead by a native speaker, students will begin building their Portuguese foundation in a fun environment. Students will enjoy socializing with one another while doing activities like Bingo and Jeopardy to learn Brazilian Portuguese basics like numbers, colors, and common phrases. A basic understanding of common Portuguese greetings and sentences.
Ms. Renata was born in Brazil and is both a native speaker of Portuguese and fluent in Spanish. She has been teaching Portuguese privately and professionally for over 2 decades. In addition to her work teaching adults and children, she provided Portuguese translation and dubbing to several prominent Film Production companies. She holds a BA in Visual Communication and a BA in Art History. Ms. Amanda was born in Brazil and is a native speaker of Portuguese. She has been teaching Portuguese and doing Portuguese translation privately and professionally for over 2 decades. She has taught Portuguese to corporate leaders at major companies including General Mills, L'Oreal, and The Salvation Army. She holds a MFA in Film Production and a BA in Business Administration. Mr. Rafael was born in Brazil and is a native speaker of Portuguese. He graduated with a B.A. in Psychology with a focus on learning and education at the Washington University in St. Louis. He has also tutored students in Portuguese and various other subjects since October 2020.
Homework Offered
Practice worksheets will be provided weekly via Google Docs. Homework should take less than one hour and is a review of what was covered in class.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

We can make other accommodations for families who are unable to access Google Docs. *** If the teacher finds that a student who has joined the class has a comprehension level that is lower than what is required for this level we will reach out to your family to determine whether we have the correct class level available for them at a time that works for your family. If we cannot make the transfer you will have the option of a partial refund (75%) or a class credit. We do not wish to make your student uncomfortable by having them struggle to catch up in class. ** Minimum students requirement: some classes are able to run if they do not meet the minimum student requirement. If class is less than 1 week away and does not show signs of additional enrollments we will reach out to your family to discuss whether the class will continue as scheduled, whether a different/ day or time is an option, or whether postponing the start date would be best.
